Within the next 30 to 60 days, video podcasts will be coming. I haven’t really gone in-depth on what they would consist of, so I’d like to take a few minutes to expand on that.
First, I guess I should point out where I come from on video podcasting. I don’t listen or watch many podcasts. It’s not that they aren’t interesting, or that it’s a lackluster media form… it’s mostly that I don’t have time. In fact, there are only a couple of podcasts that I tune into on a guaranteed-viewer basis. The rest, I tune into if there’s time, otherwise, they wind up in the trash.
Initially, there will be one podcast: My podcast. The Christopher Price Show should launch by the time CTIA rolls around in April. The show will be radio-based. Meaning, don’t expect video walkthroughs… if it doesn’t play well on audio-only, it won’t play period. You’ll see it featured on other MechaWorks web sites, as of course it will focus on the same technological veins.
At first, there will be three formats: A 480p (SDTV) and a 720p (HDTV) version. There will also be MP3 and AAC versions.
Eventually, a premium version will be available for a small fee to subscribe to. You can expect that version will be relatively ad-free, and in a higher quality.
We are toying around with a second show, but that is not likely to roll out any time soon (as in, not this year). Between all the MechaWorks sites, new stuff in development, and the upcoming show… you can expect me to be pretty busy right now.
And, with that, I’d like to turn the tables over to you. What do you want to see on the Christopher Price Show. What topics do you want to hear my thoughts on? What questions do you have that are tough? Maybe you just have a personal tech problem that would take awhile to answer? Everything’s fair game, so please, sound off in the comments about what you want to see.
