Windows Home Server + Router Gathering More Attention

Paul Thurrott’s review of Windows Home Server ends on a very similar note to my previous WIndows Home Server article. Windows Home Server OEMs would benefit from integrating a wireless router into the box, easing configuration and reducing the number of boxes and cables to add a home server to your network. In fact, the only difference between the two in substance was that he noted the lack of Windows x64 support in WHS.

No, I’m not accusing Mr. Thurrott of plagiarizing ideas… though I wouldn’t be surprised if he did read my article before finishing his review. These flaws in WHS are apparent to most that are evangelizing the product.

I will say that there is good news on the Windows x64 front… Microsoft is already at-work on adding Windows x64 support to Windows Home Server, it’s currently slated for an update rollup in the first quarter of next year. I actually knew about that when I wrote the article above, hence why it was omitted.
