Windows Home Server has finally landed in the United States. It’s in-stock on sites like Newegg.com (product link). For some reason, foreign localizations were shipped to stores about a month ago, but at least you can finally buy a copy.
In case you missed out on the betas, Microsoft says they will be offering a 120-day evaluation copy for a small shipping fee… soon. I do have to say that as I’ve been testing Home Server since its very early stages, it has continued to impress me. Home Server is the best product to ship from Microsoft since Windows Media Center. It is essential for anyone with multiple computers in their home. Oh, and it works with Time Machine too, so you no only can backup every PC in your house, but all your soon-to-be-running-Leopard Mac systems as well.
Oh, and be sure to let it update itself… Microsoft already has an update rollup ready and waiting for you, in addition to the oodles of Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 updates (yes, in case you didn’t know, for $189, you’re getting a full copy of Windows Server 2003, and one of the easiest to use setup servers ever created).
