iPhone-formatted Macworld Guide

Zami, a company that makes city guides and white page directories, has been tinkering around with an iPhone-format for their web site. And, they’ve decided to use Macworld Expo as a test case.

You can access their iPhone site here, which will give you a guide with all the show info for Macworld exhibitors, divided up by what hall they are in. I think this will be a great resource, it sure will help finding those hole-in-the-wall developers (you know, the ones in the tiny kiosk-size exhibits, surrounded by a billion other kiosk-sized exhibits).

Funny story, when Google Earth came out for Mac at Macworld Expo two years ago, the place became so mobbed that Google employees abandoned it. I actually took over and started doing live demos and managed the crowd, showing them all the cool things you could do with Earth. Okay, it kinda helped that the team leaked a copy to me, but it was sure a sight watching dozens of people crowding around a single kiosk.

In case you’re wondering why a company like Google did that, they waited too long to get a spot, and had to settle with a kiosk. Google has been taking up a larger and larger presence at Macworld (last year, and now this year)… and they’re now conveniently placed right next to Apple’s doorstep on the show floor. It’s almost as if you’re never leaving the same company.
