The Clevo W740SU is the laptop that is rebadged in the United States as the Sager NP2740 and System76 Galago UltraPro.
They’re the exact same laptop, except that System76 neutered theirs to strip it of UEFI. Which is lame… especially since they left UEFI references in the BIOS settings menu. I’ve asked them to fix that, they told me they have no plans to. Even more lame.
It also happens to be one of the only PC laptops with an Intel Iris Pro GPU. As such, we use it extensively for Android development at Console, Inc..
I recently stumbled on a service photo guide on some random Chinese site, and figured I’d mirror it here for those in need. It covers teardown to the RAM, SATA, and mSATA drives. Enjoy.
I wish I’d seen this sooner but am I ever glad you posted it! I tried to add some RAM to my Galago a few weeks ago and it quickly became a real mess when I found out that the RAM slots were located on the top side of the mobo and there didn’t seem to be any way to go in through the keyboard. Sneaky Clevo and their sneaky cover plate!
Thank you for sharing the hard to find dissembly instructions. I found this quite helpful.
