No offense to Mr. Eddings, his email box is full today… with junk press requests trying to confirm .Mac’s transition to Me.com.
As MacRumors has picked apart, Me.com appears to be the new site for Apple’s .Mac service, and Kenneth Eddings over at Apple is listed in the SOA record as the technical contact… confirming the case and point.
So, with Live Mesh giving Back to My Mac away for free… Apple really didn’t have a choice here. So, for all of you that didn’t pay for .Mac service, feel vindicated. I have to admit, I did pay for a year… but only because I was too tied to my “free” @mac.com address at the time, and 90 days wasn’t enough time to transition.
It would be interesting next quarter, for someone to add up all the revenue from .Mac since it went for-pay… to the time it was killed off.
