What are you stuck on exactly? Are you getting an error message? Or do you simply not know how to put a boot flash drive together?

hi , i have managed to update the aspire one bios to 3304 version, i have the xp 120gb acer one, however the update doesnt really do what it says on the tin,

the fan is still always on , and acer claimed that its now temperature controlled, but mines still always on , and the lower dimm levels of light have been removed, notihing else really improved.

i must warn that if you were using a fan control software before the update, they dont work after, so now im stuck with the noisy fan, great!!!!!!!

I don’t hear the fan running much more, though I do admit it does click on faster. I don’t have a problem with them blocking third-party fan management apps… some of those could do damage to the CPU, but slowing down the fan below necessary levels.

Certainly, I wish they had done a better job… Apple for example, allows you to control the fan to run faster, but a hardware (firmware) interlock kicks in and prevents it from running slower.

How can I boot into DOS? I looked it up and everyone seems to argue about it saying you have to use a disk or CD and I don’t have an external. Is there someway I can put it on a USB stick and if so, how would I go about doing this? The fan is driving me nuts and I installed OSX on it for which there are no fan management apps… 🙁

I’ve just ordered my XP Aspire One and am doing a little online backgrounding for it. I am amazed that I can’t find anything from Acer by way of step-by-step BIOS installation instructions. I’m no fool – I’ve regularly and successfully updated BIOS whenever available in HP, Dell, and Toshiba machines I’ve owned – but always with clear directions from the manufacturer including warnings against mistakes. It may be my machine will come with the latest, but given how many updates there’ve already been it probably won’t be the last version – and I can’t believe I’m supposed to depend on friendly online volunteers for guidance on how to do it.

Sent my new Aspire One back for a keyboard and when I got it back, it wouldn’t boot… Sent it back for a new fan and motherboard… works great… fan is silent… but speakers broadcast with such an echo I can’t understand what’s said… any help?

Sounds like they didn’t align the speaker properly with the vent holes when installing the new motherboard.

Unfortunately, the only fix (that doesn’t void the warranty) would be to send it back again.

Yes, it is, but that blog post was written long after this news article was posted… making your sarcasm seem a bit more pointless.

Im having problems updating my acer aspire one bios. I’m stuck on the DOS part of the install because I cant find the either update file or the 3304.bat file to deploy the update.
