Think Secret announced last week that they were closing down operations as a part of their settlement with Apple. Well, yesterday comes around, and guess what? They’re still posting new news.
Now, Think Secret didn’t say they would shut down immediately, they just said it “would cease operations”. That could mean tomorrow (okay, that didn’t happen), or it could mean 10 years from now. I suspect Think Secret is trying to be sold… and thus is moving forward without having to admit they are selling the site.
It’s not a good way to do business. It confuses readers… I already removed my RSS subscription for example. If you’re going to sell a web site, make it clear to your readers what’s happening when appropriate. If you’re shutting down the site, say so… let people move on. If you’re going to defy a signed and binding settlement with a Fortune 500 company… then you’re going to be in a world of hurt.
Think Secret – Keeps on Posting…
On an unrelated note, my favorite Worst Apple Rumor Ever was when Mac OS Rumors posted that Apple would be building its own GSM network (long before iPhone materialized), and that they would be using Apple Stores as the initial tower footprint for their national wireless network. I couldn’t stop laughing for 20 minutes…
