Memtest86 7.0 Released

Memtest86 7.0 is now out.

What is arguably the best memory tester for UEFI-compatble computers just got a major update. Version 7.0 adds improved Row Hammer testing. It also adds improved support for newer Intel CPUs like Skylake and the upcoming Broxton processors.

Amongst many other things, it fixes some UEFI graphics issues, and adds Portuguese and Czech language translations.

If you haven’t tested your RAM with Memtest86, I highly recommend it. I think everyone should test their machine with at least three full test cycles annually – as well as whenever you start having computer trouble that can’t easily be diagnosed. It may take awhile, but it really can head off major computing issues.

On a related note, I really wish phone and tablet manufacturers offered better RAM diagnostic tools. If your tablet or smartphone doesn’t let you battle test the RAM, you might want to ask yourself what they have to hide?
